I love Canberra. I have a very happy life here. But then I go to the sea and wonder why I'm not living somewhere else...like by the water.
With a job like mine there are times when (with the wonders of the interweb) I can work from pretty well anywhere. Last week I was lucky enough to be able to work by the sea. Firstly with a colleague who has relocated to Nelson Bay (sea change or what!) and then for a few more days with my parents in Newcastle.
No-one believes me when I say I got a whole heap of work done...but it's true. Yes, really. Having said that, there were coastal compensations.
Here's a lovely picture of mum and dad at the Newcastle Ocean Baths.
They're doing ok but frailer each time I see them; and let's not talk about the memory loss!! But no matter what, school prawns with my dad is a long, long tradition...I'm a much speedier peeler than him these days though :)
How about you? Do you prefer coast or country? Or if you're really lucky, do you have both?

Well, I think it's obvious where I prefer... Love those shots - and what a beautiful, beautiful photo of your mum and dad. I'm so thrilled to hear they're doing okay (all things considered). Hope you're well xx
ReplyDeleteI ask myself the same thing. More than a decade later and I still haven't made peace with CNB. Those photos are super. Love the seagull!!! Can smell the salty air. Deb xx
ReplyDeleteWe live inland where it is dry and hot in Summer and cold in Winter. Sometimes the need to get to the sea is overwhelming, the need to be by the water and stare out into the ocean. Your photos are great and I feel like I have had a little fix of the sea.
ReplyDeleteI often daydream about moving inland, beyond the mountains, to a dry dry cattle station....but I cannot. I cannot move away from the ocean, it's in my blood, it's my childhood, it's a spiritual thing. It's at the end of my street right now.

I like the sea....I like the sounds of the ocean and the wind.
ReplyDeleteI love living near the sea, but in Tassie you drive for 10 minutes and you are in the country as well. So, I'm spoilt!
ReplyDeleteI adore that pic of your parents. As you know I just loved Newcastle and the old baths. Do you know my mum has that very same glass bowl in the last shot :)
Your photos have something extra ! They are wonderful !
ReplyDeleteRight now I want to go to the sea, but I must say I love both :)
Have a really nice day

I definitely prefer the coast, it's the sea air I love! :)
ReplyDeleteThe coast.I live 15 minutes from the coast and love walking on the beach, so relaxing.
ReplyDeleteAlso I am only 30 minutes from beautiful Byron Bay, I feel privileged to live in such a beautiful area.
Love the picture of your mum and dad.
Something about the sea! Your photos are lovely. :) ~ Karen Fields
ReplyDeleteA gorgeous post, Kerry. You sound so at peace with yourself. The water does that to me. That's why I've lived in Hobart, Sydney and then Hobart again. Could never be away from it. An adorable pic of your pares, you clever minx. J x
