...even if your kids laugh at you...(as mine do to me...yes you two, I know you do!)...they may not know that you were cool once upon a time. Actually, now I think more about it, dance lots...especially if your kids laugh at you. What's the point of having children if you can't embarrass them now and again? That, and using them to reach the top shelf when they get to be much taller than you. And if you were never cool? Just pretend...we've learnt a thing or two by now to get away with the subterfuge. They'll never know...and they probably won't even care. And if you've never had kids...you certainly need to dance...because you probably don't suck at it and I bet you've got less wobbly bits than those of us who have! Having said that, those of us with wobbly bits probably need the exercise...are you confused? I think I am. Bloody pre-menopausal hormones.
Anyway...enjoy your Friday night...go on lovely bloggy people...dance around the living room at the very least! I might even take the MGM for a spin around the coffee table.
Dear Kerry, It is still only Thursday evening here so the thought of Friday evening, dancing or otherwise, seems rather mind boggling. I shall most likely get used to the southern hemisphere times and seasons as my correspondence with you continues.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE dancing, but my mother rather frowned upon the activity - regarding it [dancing that is] along with many other things as common. However, as a small child I persuaded her to let me attend the Arthur Lightfoot [yes really] School of Dancing and I have never looked back. Old Time, Latin American and Modern - strike up the music, push back the furniture and let's DANCE!!
Happy friday to you! I still have one more sleep. xo
ReplyDeletei love dancing....so glad to hear you do too!!!
ReplyDeleteBetter yet, make them dance with you in public - at weddings, anniversaries, etc. Our kids are always amazed that their parents still dance together! Have a great weekend - we still have a day to go!
ReplyDeleteWoo! Great post! I'm going out with the girls to a salsa club tomorrow, my first night out dancing since before kids! Regardless of the fact that I am completely unco & have wobbly bits galore!
ReplyDeleteYes I need to dance more often! My bubba is not even one yet and he already laughs at me when I dance :)
ReplyDeleteI'm going to remember this next time we DO laugh at you mummy dearest. Ha hahahahaha
ReplyDeletelol..your a funny one...made me giggle..and couldnt agree with you more..I love to dance and always will...its feeds the soul. Have a great weekend lovely x
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a very energetic thing to do on a Friday evening. For me these days, my energy peaks at about 2 in the afternoon so I'll have to take my spin around the coffe table then.
ReplyDeleteHa! Great post ;) now off I go to a dance party!
ReplyDeleteLove to dance!!! Yes my girls laugh too, especially when my bones start to creak and groan ;P Wishing you a wonderful weekend Kerry, thanks for the giggle :) ~ Tina xx
ReplyDelete...and that's the ONLY reason I take my teenage son shopping with me, he can reach the top shelves and I can't!
ReplyDeletebtw Kerry, in answer to your query, I get some of my upholstery supplies (including the nailhead trim) from this site www.diyupholsterysupplies.com. It's in Wangaratta, VIC

Dear Kerry,
ReplyDeleteComing from a household where my dad played saxaphone and clarinet and my mum was a singer, our house was always full of music. My dad would 'limber up' before he went to a gig, so we all used to dance around.
I still love dancing and embarrass my children on a dailly basis.... and it's not only the dancing that embarrasses them !!..... I will say no more !! XXXX
I love to put the stereo on LOUD and dance round the coffee table like a demented teenager.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend Kerry.

Yep, I'm a fan of dance though I find if I decide to do a little dance I almost always end up being knocked over by Molly dog - she thinks it's time for a playfight. Or, maybe she just thinks I am a crap dancer and should stop!?
ReplyDeleteYikes my dancing is very uncoordinated - just too tall for graceful dancing! xx
ReplyDeleteThere you go! I love to dance while cleaning the house , luckily there is just my dog looking disdainfully at me ;)
ReplyDeleteBut Kerry, your kids need to know that you're still cool!
xoxo Flaviana
My daughter is nine and still thinks I'm cool, so I think I'm doing okay. She knows I can't dance but has fun watching me try!
ReplyDeleteLOVE this post - and the sentiment! Nicely written and oh so true...
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend! Marija
