a bit of jewellery organisation...

I don't know about you but I seem to wear the same jewellery over and over.  There are some pieces that never come off (except when going through the airport screening of course)...two silver bracelets I bought with money from my parents to celebrate my 5oth are always with me.
I have a bit of jewellery...not much of it is precious in terms of dollar value, but I do like a good necklace or pair of earrings...or three.  But I wasn't wearing much of it because it was shoved away in various drawers, boxes and what have you's.  Except for the necklaces...they've lived here for a while...I think you've seen them draped over my bedroom mirror before.
But my earrings and rings were another story. Not any more!
I had been collecting 'silver' mugs from op shops (ignore their unpolished state) and one day, not so long ago I had an idea. Mugs as earring holders...and a bowl for bracelets, rings and brooches...why not? So I did...and now they're being worn...I really must polish that silver one day though!

  1. You have some lovely pieces of jewellery. I've a penchant for silver too. Have never worn gold. Pity, considering its current value ...

Anyway, I do like that green beaded piece. It looks like Elk? Is it?

Polish those silver cups!! They'll look smashing.

  2. I sort of like the old patina on the cups, makes me wonder who used theme before and for what. You have a beautiful collection of jewelry...I see we have similar taste! Most of my jewelry is silver, too.

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend!

  3. I love jewelry hung over mirrors. It all looks so lovely all jumbled together. The silver cups make a very pretty display.

  4. That's a very clever idea using the silver mugs. You are more likely to wear your jewellery if it's not packed away. xx

  5. Great idea, you clever girl! My jewellery is all jumbled in a box - might need to take a leaf out of your (very stylish!) book. xx

  6. Good idea, out where you can see it! I stored mine on the curtain beside my desk for a while, just pinned through the fabric, worked well.

Call the silver 'patina' until you polish them, makes you feel better~

  7. We have very similar taste my friend and you've reminded me that I too have some loveliness tucked away in a drawer which really should be worn more often.

Your first image has reminded me that I'd like to have a go at 'jujuing' and I'm sure you have some great tips for a novice - the fear of mixing glue and feathers has prevented me thus far.

Happy day all sparkly and silverlike.

  8. WHat a good idea to use the silver mugs. Very nice. I love seeing your jewellery on display, much better to enjoy it than hide it away.

  10. That's a brilliant idea. I never wear jewellry because I forget about it all tucked away in a drawer. I need to do something like this and get it out and on :-)

  11. Hello Kerry:
What a perfectly brilliant idea! We shall copy it immediately and have the great good fortune to have a housekeeper who loves [and is very good at] silver polishing.

Such an eclectic mix of jewellery and each piece so interesting. As you say, it is not necessarily what it is worth in monetary terms it is whether it suits the occasion and the personality. So stylish!

  13. Gorgeous display! I don't think they need to be polished at all, their patina makes for a nice juxtaposition against your baubles - x

  17. Great idea Kerry - my necklaces are also draped over my mirror but as for other jewellery, it's stashed away out of reach of little fingers at the moment and I too tend to forget that I have those pieces :)
