time for a bit of reflection...

I've been thinking...I do it quite a lot. Well...a bit...ok, ok... sometimes. It's mostly mindless nonsense, but there are times I ask myself some very deep questions...like...is there anywhere that you CAN'T put a Venetian mirror...?
Nope...didn't think so!
Did you think I'd gone all philosophical on you...I am capable of that you know...I've been to big school!!
Now, back to business...do you have a favourite mirror?
all images found by typing in venetian mirrors here. Not one little bit of rocket science involved!

  1. Ooh - they're gorgeous!! I love the one resting on that mirrored table. We don't have any particularly interesting mirrors here but when we renovate our main bathroom one day, I'd love a fancy mirror :)

  3. Dear Kerry, As your images suggest, the Venetian mirror can be placed almost anywhere to great effect and, indeed, it does look very attractive in the bathrooms you have shown. In fact, for myself, I should prefer to site one somewhere slightly unexpected where its ornamentation might come as something of a surprise. The kitchen might be rather fun.

In answer to your question, I possibly prefer the somewhat plainer C19 or earlier convex mirrors. In British houses, by tradition, one is always placed in the dining room to enable the servants to see the entire table magnified without looking directly. Imagine what this would do for the Vampire Slayer!! A lioness, no less!!

  6. As you proved, they look fabulous anywhere! But I have to agree with Edith Hope . . . they look best where one might least expect one. I think I need one now.

  12. Well, Kerry,
I could think of one place where you can't put a Venetian mirror but, I'd better not say, as I may offend many people !!!!!!!! hahahahaha.
Gorgeous, gorgeous images of the most beautiful rooms, featuring those wonderful Venetian mirrors.
I'm afraid that I have a 'thing' about mirrors. I have lots of them !! Not from a vanity point of view.... I just like them, and the reflective qualities really open up a room.
My favourites are the last two. Love 'em !! XXXX

  16. These images are all beautiful. To be honest, I don't think an elaborate venetian mirror would work well in my home though the slightly more simple or darker coloured ones (like the one pictured in the dining room) would be fab.
