soul food friday ~ no, I'm not telling you what to do!

I've read some criticisms lately of posters and things like this...the objection is that people don't need to be told what to do.  I think that's mostly true.
BUT...
sometimes we need to remind ourselves. So if you need a little reminder to do some stuff for you this weekend, maybe this can be a little prompt.  It's not like I'm ordering you or anything (although I was an Army officer so I know how to do it!!)
BUT...
wouldn't it be lovely, if over the next week or so, you did some of this...just for you. Or for someone else
AND...
I'm pleased to say I've been able to tick quite a few of these off lately.
BUT...
for really good people who are ticking things off by doing things that they've never done before and raising money in the process, and for an opportunity to donate to a good cause, please have a look at this site...
...and maybe find someone to sponsor. I did. It's a fantastic cause; to raise $100,000 to fund supporting programs and services for Aussie kids who have been affected by substance abuse, mental illness and/or homelessness.

P.S. thanks so much for the clever/funny/ever so slightly 'psst I think she might be a bit of a nutter' comments about the crochet covered rock yesterday. I'm pleased to see that you all have a fabulous sense of humour and if the postage on rocks weren't so prohibitive I'd be sending you all one in the mail...yes Edith...even to Maida Vale!!

  1. Dear Kerry, I love your soul Friday posts, especially as I seem able to comment on them on Thursdays!!

I wonder, dear Kerry, how much of your very sound advice you follow yourself since you always seem to me to be very concerned about the happiness and welfare of others without, perhaps, really giving yourself enough pampering.

So, possibly, this weekend you could arrange a really special treat, indulge in a personal pleasure, cosset and spoil yourself and do not even think of picking up a crochet hook.

Have a lovely and relaxing time!

  2. I don't know why people would ever really get turdy about positive words. Even the best of us need the odd reminder. I think that turdiness is for sarcastic people (who really SHOULD take note of positive posters!!!
I'm sstring to sound nutty, must be reno-madness setting in!!!
Have a great weekend Kerry :)

  3. I think we all need a little reminder now and then, I know I definitely do, and that's why I love your Soul Food Fridays so much - it's the gentle kick in the pants to end the week on a positive note! It's too easy to get caught up with 'stuff' instead of focusing on the important things. Have a great weekend sweet. K xx

  6. Hope you follow your words - very apt I would say. I personally can't understand why people criticize such posters. Why bother wasting the energy to complain about something you don't have to read. Hope you have a wonderful weekend as you head into spring. I just picked up another 50 tulips to plant for our spring! Mary
