razmataz photo challenge - what's your dresser look like?

Every Friday Chania from Razmataz has a photo challenge. This week's was to photograph your dresser...
which was slightly problematic for me...
as I don't have one. Did you see the frou-frou juju in the mirror...never mind...another look coming up. It still makes me laugh every time I look at it :)
So I thought I'd photograph the closest thing I have, which is a bookcase I rescued from the bottom part of my bedroom when I started doing up the boring beigedom that I inherited from the previous owners. I painted it of course. I painted the mirror too.
Chania wanted us to keep it real...but quite frankly you weren't going to get it in its untidied state...the fake silk flowers might disturb you enough! And I didn't straighten that world history book either. Or take out the unpainted ikea box. Never mind.
...and as it's now Saturday, clearly you weren't going to get it on time either...the post I mean.
I use the mirror and the top of the bookcase to deposit the jewellery I've taken off...so quite a bit of it lives here permanently. It's handy and just a little bit decorative. On a good day.
There are always books...and of course you know by now that there's no room in my house that doesn't have a buddha!
Pop on over to Chania's to have a sticky at other people's dressers. Or better still, take some photos of yours and link up :)

  1. Your 'non-dresser' looks great Kerry. Nothing like a photo shoot to make you blow off a bit of dust! I notice your new vintage purse there as well - very cool.
    I don't have a dresser either. I don't think I even have a 'non-dresser'. One day I'd love a girly dressing table.
I hope you are having an enjoyable weekend :)

  2. I loved seeing this post of yours Kerry and having another sneak peek into your lovely home. My dressing table is pretty much bare as I still haven't worked out what I'd like to display there - plus with Grace at the moment, nothing is safe there :) Will pop over to Chania's to get some inspiration...

  3. Looks lovely Kerry. Love the Claytons dresser and that juju is still a fave. I of course would have to spend more time tidying that photographing atm, so I won't be adding pics any time soon. Have a great weekend sweet, K xx

  4. Your dressing table is so neat! Do you have dust at the Tranquil Townhouse? Or is dust a no-no?

Bloody Queenslanders (houses, not constituents, though some ...) Dust thinks it has Title to Property here, thus no photo of my dresser!

  5. A fun post, Kerry. So delighted to see Virginia Woolf's book there - that title has been on my mind all week now I will have one of my own in our new house! J x

  6. There is no way I could post my dresser without tidying it up first. Your bookcase/dresser is very cool. I drape my necklaces over the corner of the mirror too. xx

  7. There was no way in fact "snowballs chance in hell" of me photographing my dressing table. Sheer shock horror at the thought. Yours is lovely and very stylish. Well done.

  8. I do love your dresser/bookshelf. It is funny because a number of people, including myself don;t have a dresser in their room. I may be just nosy, but I love seeing peoples stuff. Not just their houses, but their stuff. I love the way you hang your necklaces on the mirror and that shot of the mirror reflecting the dark wall with the tutti frutti or whatever is called is a great shot.

  10. My first thought about the challenge was, "Can we clean up beforehand?" With two daughters at home, calling things my own does not exist. And unfortunately {sometimes}, we fit in the same jewelry. That, a TV, and several hundred shared bottles of perfume, I think I might lose my reputation for being organized.

Your bookcase {?} is a great alternative to a dresser. I love how you hang your jewelry on the mirror. And strategically took pics without getting caught in it!

    Happy Weekend, Kerry!

    XO,
    Jane

  14. Love where you put your NYC purse - a place of honour and fits right in. I think that my girls both have one of those shell necklaces - the one that opens like a little purse from our visit to your neck of the woods. Your necklaces look great on the mirror - more likely to get worn that way too. And now I am noticing Buddhas everywhere - tons with all the new garden stuff being put out! Hope your weekend was lovely! xx

  15. Adoring your 'dresser' Kerry - and all the details. Such a personal home yours, and I love how there are layers of memories, books, and meaningful decorative items everywhere. It has such personality and warmth. Beautiful!

Off to Tasmania tomorrow. Will be gone little over a week. 'See' you when we get back.

    xx Charlotta

  17. Why users still use to read news papers when in this technological globe the whole thing is presented on web?
