what I read in march 2011

Hanging my head in shame...I didn't read anywhere near as much as I would have liked!
...despite the fact that I spent many hours trapped in a tin can over the pacific ocean and north america!
Here's what I managed:
The Secret Lives of Dresses by Erin McKean - fiction
As Good as it Got by Isabel Sharpe - fiction
Hector and the Secrets of Love by Francois Lelord - fiction
...oh yes, a deep and meaningful reading month that was! I'll try to do better in April...after all there's an Easter break perfect for lounging about reading.
I can't rave about any of these books although I suspect I might have been more inclined to do so about Hector etc if I hadn't had to read it on the iPad. No matter how hard I try I can't embrace this way of reading. But I'm going to have to...I've downloaded some real goodies and they MUST be read! I'll need to get over my aversion to snuggling up with a bit of technology as opposed to bits of paper.
While the reading was more than a bit light on...I did see six movies! What a pity I can only remember five! Again, courtesy of QANTAS...they were...
I really enjoyed Red. Who doesn't love Helen Mirren. I mean, really...

  1. "I am half sick of shadows" - in other words, fiction, especially the sort where everyone behaves really, really badly, or the sort of romance where you know what will happen the minute the lantern-jawed hero appears. Biography comes to my rescue!

  2. I started a comment and lost it!Ugh. Reading The Secret Lives of Dresses - good for before bed! I think that the light on the iPad is what makes it more difficult for reading. I'm still working on a mystery I started enroute to NYC. The Kindle is much easier on the eyes for reading. RED was a great movie. Funny how the ad you posted is completely different than anything we saw here. Hope you havea great week.

  3. I am impressed that you managed that many Kerry! You are like me, have plane seat, will select movies...one after the other. What better way to catch up! I hope you managed some sleep in there too and are managing thru the jet lag.

    Welcome back :)

  5. You are totally excused, what with full on hard core international travel, need I say more.
I have just finished Left Neglected about a lady who has a car accident and sustains a head injury that means she neglects anything on her left. It was a good read. The Author, Lisa Genova has also written another book, Still Alice about a lady with early onset Alzhiemers. It was excellent too.

  7. I am so looking for a good read, and the time to read it! Currently I am reading anything that can be picked up and as quickly dropped, if it gets lost who cares!!!!
I did love Still Alice by Lisa Genova and waiting on the library to get Left Neglected so thank you to the Moerks for letting me know it will be worth waiting for!

  8. I am very impressed you read at all my friend. It's hard to find peace to sink into a good book when on an adventure. I find myself spending more time writing than reading.

Am reading a few lovely Swedish books at the moe - courtesy of my dear mother, who sends me a stack now and then.
Also re-read Stefan Einhorn's 'The art of being kind' last week, and am just about finishing Elisabeth Gilbert's 'Committed'. An interesting read that they should hand out when people buy an engagement ring..! :)

Hoping Autumn is treating you well down there. Sydney is enjoying a spell of beach friendly weather and we are embracing it to the full. Forgot to SPF today though and now sport the most unattractive neckline sun-mark.. Will I ever learn..?

    Hugs
    xx C
