new boots...

I didn't imagine that I'd ever be posting about a pair of boots...I suspect that's more than a little lame. However...thinking that I'd have to spend all weekend searching for a pair of boots to be worn tramping around the streets of Washington and New York in just a little over a week (sorry), I couldn't believe that I walked into Diana Ferrari last night and found a pair that are perfect for me...and so, so comfortable...just like that! Who would have thought?
Diana Ferrari: style - Hamish. Cost - $229.95. I estimate that'll be much less than a dollar a kilometre by the time I've finished walking in them!
sorry about the reflection in the painting...I was still in my pj's too!

  1. Never mind the mirror reflection, we'll be seeing you on The Sartorialist next!

And I'm seriously thinking of starting a Movement where pyjamas fall under the umbrella of 'corporate wear'.

  2. Very nice Kerry! I like them and I'm in need of some new boots. I'll have to go try these on for size :)
Still very jealous about your US trip, you sure you don't need a luggage carrier/assistant/map reader/misc anything....?
Have a great weekend my dear,
    Jxx

  4. Ooh, you lucky duck, Kerry. They look perfect. I struggle to find boots to fit my calves, oddly enough - they're in proportion to the rest of me but somehow prove troublesome. One day I'll be as fortunate as you! Now, are you going to start wearing them in before you head off - you don't want blisters in NYC! J x

  7. Oh! These beauties literally made me take a sharp exhalation - they are THE BEST!

What a clever cookie you are thinking to pack long boots, these will take you from day to night in a blink and will keep your tootsies warm with any lingering chills that might be there to greet you.

Can't wait to read your OS posts - The Townhouse is going global people!

  8. Fantastic, I love a good black boot! I live in my black Diana's. Snifffff I can smell the new leather!

  9. Oh they're great. I started with black flats, well actually i had a pair of Diana's heeled black boots back in the 1990s when i worked, Uni'd & before i had children. The heel was always a bit touch & go. Then about 6 years ago i bought some black flat Country Road ones, i did not pay the $300 asking price, thank goodness for huge feet & sales. Next some heeled ankle black, brown heeled ankle brown, flat brown, flat grey (all Country Road & Trenery, same thing) . . . i just keep blaming Canberra Winter as the best boot investment reason ever!! I get them all man-workboot-soled at Manuka, the extra $50 will give them each another 10 years at least!! Last pair - low heeled soft light brown leather from CR last season, they rock me the most!! Love Posie

  12. They're great! I love a long black boot with a bit of attitude. I have some similar ones from CR form a couple of years ago and I always get comments. You will get so much wear out of them you wont remember the price for a second!

  13. Okay, I am now officially jealous! Those look so comfortable and with the elastic gore, likely to go over 'real' calves! I think that I have to try the $1/km idea next time I can't make up my mind to spend the money on a pair! Have a great weekend. Mary PS: Two more weeks!

When I am a Stay At Home Mother Type Person this year I will wear boots and skinny jeans. Always a chic look I think.

  17. I have been hunting...and hunting...and hunting! for black knee high boots! But cannot find just the right ones...yours are lovely.

  18. I simply adore your new boots and wonder why I can never find such a decent pair. Now I realize, they don't have gorgeous boots like that in the cheapy bin at the front of the shop! Boots are on my birthday list this month so maybe, just maybe, I'll get more specific...Diana Ferarri - Hamish.

  22. Great boots. The search for the perfect winter boot is neverending - I seem to buy a new pair every season but I am not REALLY sure I need to. I find most boots are not high enough for me but I don't really like that above the knee look (too Pirate-y). I bought some boots at Country Road, Like Posie! this week - perfect height and about $300 less than the others I looked at. The lady told me they sell out quickly so I bought them! Yes I am a sucker. xoxo

  24. They are so, so nice. The perfect boots for me elude me (my calves don't fit most!) but I will keep trying. I totally get the joy you feel at finding yours.

    Enjoy NYC... I can't help it, I'm greeeeeen!!!! x

  25. Dear Kerry, Do you recall that song by Nancy Sinatra - These boots are made for walking? Well, yours certainly look the part! I think you will turn heads with these boots. You may like to have a look at the lovely Lisa's blog 'amid privilege' - she is on Ms FF's blogroll, as she asked for and received so many suggestions for great things to do in DC. I hope you have a lovely time. Lindaxxx

Take a cab out there, it's only 15-20 mins. from town. You will shop 'til you drop & them some. Tell them Millie sent you & you'll have their undivided attention. Safe travels mate.
