soul food friday ~ just being you

As a very new blogger I've been trying to work out what I should put on my blog...there are so many different views and bits of advice out there. I've discussed this with a few of my blog friends this week who are also new to this obsession fun pastime. So...I've been thinking (always dangerous!)...should I concentrate on finding and posting lovely pictures, tell my story, practise my writing, seek advice from others, share the things I love, occasionally bore you witless with my projects (and just wait until I start the design course in a few weeks...don the helmets and flak jackets then thrill seekers!!) So yep, there's probably all of that, and more, that could be blogged about. And then I found this...and thought to myself...now there's a bit of good advice Kez...
So it's largely me being me that you'll be getting I suspect!
Have a really good day. I will be.

p.s. I got two blog awards this week...how chuffed do you think that makes me!?!  I'll be blogging about them over the weekend, thanking the lovely people who gave them to me and thinking about who to pass them on to...and I'll be using up most of the weekend doing that, because I surely need time to think of something really clever to say!

  1. I think that's good advice Kerry, be yourself and blog your own way, and you'll find your audience. Somehow I think it'll be a blast!
Congrats on the awards, that's so sweet.
    Have a great weekend,
    K xx

  4. How sweet and refreshing to hear something like that. In this crazy world we always seem to be pushing ourselves aside in the quest for success, popularity and who knows what else! It's always poignant to take a moment and remember that who we truly are should and will always shine brightest in the end.

PS - Sorry for the sap though no other way to do it really!

  9. Hi Kerry. Thanks for the comment on my blog. We used Dulux White Watsonia in gloss acrylic for all of our wood work. It's a little more subtle than bright white and the acrylic is slightly less glossy than oil-based. It just depends on what type of look you want I guess. I didn't wan't my trim to blind people! :-)

  10. Yes, If i can't be me who am I? The trick is to ignore anyone else and be you as hard as you can be. Recipe for a happy life.
Great blog I really enjoy reading it.

  12. All of the above Kerry! Like Simone said, things will just evolve. Look at the mish-mash jumble The Hedge is, no style, no direction, no continuity & yet apparently it works, which never fails to amaze me.

  14. I was getting a little worried as I read this that you might change your style and the whole time I was thinking, "oh no, don't do that! I hope she doesn't change anything b/c I like her site just how it is . . . "

I was happy when I got to the end! Congrats on the blog awards! You deserve them!

  16. Dear Kerry,
If you look at my header it says, My Home, Interiors and Garden !! I rarely post about my home and garden and sometimes I do interiors !!!! haha I don't think that it matters what you post. I love your sense of humour and, for some reason, you remind me of ME !! Sorry, not so good for you !!I'm sure you don't want to be like me...haha.
Just do what you feel. We will all love it, whatever it is. XXXX

  17. I really enjoy reading your blog Kerry. It's interesting to see how one decorates after years of being confined to army beige or not being in a place long enough to put your stamp on it. Your writing is very entertaining!Mary

PS Just remember that when it says comment from Mark, it really is me (Mary). i think I finally figured out how to comment!
