2. Do not accept gifts, drinks,rides or anything else from strange men......or any men.....ever.....well, almost never.
3. Do not tell anyone that you come from a small town in the middle of nowhere without an IKEA.....they will only pity you and not treat you as an equal.
4. Do not offer to make pebble covers for anyone......they only have VERY large rocks in the city and it will take a lifetime to knit blankets for them.
5.Enjoy....EVERYTHING!!

ReplyDeleteI feel your pain Kerry. My Company had our Annual Sales Meeting there a couple of years ago. While it was OK, having to wander through the crowded gaming rooms @ 6.30a.m. to get to breakfast was dodgy. The person who was responsible for the choice is no longer working for us. We did have a mighty good Awards Dinner in Sean's Kitchen though!

ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoyed your stay, despite the Casino! When I was a student we wanted to enter one - and they didn't let us in. We were surprised - that shows how young we were... I'm not in for gambling - seems to me such a waste of time, money and nerves.
But in a hotelroom I have with me: a scented candle, some scarves (last time in a posh Berlin hotel a picture by Baselitz hung there - you know the one who puts every thing on his head - Husband and I didn't feel comfortable staring that at us - so I took a scarf :-), a good book, a sleeping-mask, and peg-holders: if the air conditioner is too cold, I can hang a towel over it. Some individual touches, when I have to stay longer.
I have always wondered why casino decor is so tacky.
