I wouldn't call myself a brilliant gardener...I'm certainly not very knowledgeable about trees and plants and flowers...not like Sarah
But I am completely convinced of one thing...
...there are few things more restorative to a sad heart, a tired body or a worried brain than spending some time in a garden...
admiring the perfect loveliness of a simple little flower and being grateful for the chance to sit for a while and just look
even if it's only in the confines of a small courtyard garden. Actually, especially in a small space...it reminds me that we don't need all that very much to be happy.
Gardens allow us to just 'be'.
...even if that small garden is inhabited by a mad cat :)
The slayer and I send you our best wishes for a wonderful, serene weekend. Go and smell some flowers if you can. And as Elvis says...

Hello Kerry:
ReplyDeleteWhat an absolutely charming courtyard garden. Such an abundance of Roses and flowering shrubs that give it all such an overblown, totally romantic look. And, all the beautifully understated pastels colours are so wonderfully soothing. As you say, the perfect spot for relaxation and calming the soul.
A garden is a lovesome thing, God wot...
ReplyDeleteKerry, your garden is looking so splendid! What beautiful shots - I especially love the ladybug. I get excited when I see them in the garden.
ReplyDeleteI agree with everything you say. When life gets pesky the garden always lifts my spirits.
Ps. Am so excited at the prospect of you coming to Hobart. Can we meet up for a cuppa? Jane too :) x
I love the pictures of your garden! Very colorful and pretty! I like how you caught that shot of the ladybug. The ones we have around here come from the farms and they bite! Not so cute at all! Hello to the V.S.
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
Your garden looks just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLadybirds are a flower's best friend. Or are they called lady bugs?
What are those first two lots of flowers? They're divine. Somehow I think the Queensland heat would slaughter them.
The bit about not making the bed in that song always upsets me so much. I worry that no one made the bed.
ReplyDeleteGardening is just very therapeutic and good for the soul. It's soothing and it teaches you patience. I love it. Your garden is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteKerry- this post made me happy and sad all at once. Your photos and flowers are absolutely gorgeous and you are right about time spent in a garden which made me happy but here in Oregon we're heading into rainy winter so I'll have to live for you. And that cat looks sweet and hugable not made (but I'll take your word on it) which made me happy but a little sad because I miss my old guy.
ReplyDeleteBrilliantly done all the way around!
Kerry your garden is looking splendid, and Buffy very smug. You are obviously giving your garden the perfect amount of love and attention. I hope you have lots of time on the weekend to enjoy being in it.
ReplyDeleteHow fabulous does that garden of yours look - and your photos are sensational! New camera, or just a very skillful photographer? xx
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flower pics! You're heading into springy/summery times, and we're raking leaves. ;)
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I have a secret crush on Elvis.
Gorgeous blooms. A wander through the garden and I feel all the stress just drip away. Today I've been experimenting with rose petal syrup from my own blooms - quite chuffed with my ingenuity if I do say so myself!
ReplyDeleteAh Kerry, I totally *get* this. I wandered around our garden yesterday and immediately was transported to a more serene place. And you're right about Sarah - she really knows her stuff! She's teaching me so much about my garden ☺. Looking forward to the three of us getting together! J x
ReplyDeleteOh Kerry, your garden is gorgeous! So serene. Hello lovely puss! I need a cat. A-M xx
ReplyDeleteIt is so dark here this morning, we've had to put all the lights on just to get dressed - it's bucketing down with rain, autumn is well and truly setting in. So it's just the biggest lift in spirits to see your fabulous photos today - thank you so much for taking the time to do it - it's put a smile on one poor Northern Hemisphere girl today.
ReplyDeleteOK, so your garden is beautiful. And how adorbs is your cat?! VERY! Have a lovely weekend! xx
ReplyDeleteYay Kerry, you're here! And what a fabulous entrance. I was earlier staring wistfully at my own garden - I'm desperate to get my hands dirty! You sure pack a lot into your town garden. The flowers are beautiful. x
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful garden, definitely a place I am grateful for and retreat to when in need. I think it made my cold feel better today. I'm wondering if your ladybird is eating aphids on your maple - we have heaps of ladybirds and aphids on ours.
ReplyDeleteTruly, truly glorious Kerry.
ReplyDeleteWhat is the first bloom?
Happy weekend, I hope you get to enjoy long hours in your blossom-filled garden.
Felicity x
Kerry your garden is absolutely gorgeous!! You are right there is so much to be grateful for in a garden. I have a little plack in my garden that reads:
ReplyDelete"The kiss of the sun for pardon,
The song of the birds for mirth,
You are nearer God's heart in a garden,
Than anywhere else on earth."
Beautiful garden. Your flowers are so lush. I love spring and all that new growth. I have a lot of lush green veg at the moment but the blueberries and roses go with the green nicely.Picking my own strawbwrries, mulberries and blueberries is just so 'spring'.
ReplyDeleteDo you have spring now ? :) We going against winter.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing the flowers in your garden and your sweet cat.

What a lovely garden Kerry! You wouldn't think from looking at the pictures that it's a small townhouse garden, it looks so full and lush. Love kitty relaxing on the seat :)
