cold, wet, and yet...

It was very, very wet and quite cold in the nation's capital this weekend; but despite that it was anything but miserable. It was a weekend to...
curl up with cups of tea...using the giant cup that the first born bought me for mothers day...
do a bit of magazine browsing...
watch a DVD or two...
dream of what I want to do with the tranquil townhouse while watching the rain fall down outside...and yes, painting the woodwork white is one of those things...and new dining chairs

confirm that I need to go and get some wood for the fireplace...which is not really a fireplace but a stove thingy...that I really don't like the look of, but I know it's going to be great when I get around to lighting a fire in it...[this is my first winter living here and when I came to the open inspection the fire was going...and well, you know how it is!]

enjoy the fact that the 22 year old was in Sydney visiting his sister (and the house was mine, all mine for the weekend...no offence Ben!)...ssshhhh, can you hear the silence...
make a small purchase...and give in to my boho tendencies...not that that's hard!
take some photos of the garden in the rain...a different kind of beautiful...

[quite pleased with those photos; just as well...I got a bit wet taking them!]
visit a friend who wants me to help him plan his bathroom reno...so excited about doing something with this [below] because it's all kinds of wrong as it is!
tackle the pile of work-work that seems to be never ending at the moment...that's definitely not me BTW...
try and get the vampire slayer to stop sleeping on the furniture when she has a perfectly good cat basket to sleep in...fur-lined and everything. Actually, it's a dog basket, but I hardly think that's an excuse for her not to use it...it's not as if she's smart enough to know the difference! No, don't defend her...she's not!
And best of all, spend some lovely time with the MGM. So not too shabby a weekend at all bloggy peeps. Hope yours was equally good. And I do believe that this post is my 100th...how in the heck did that happen! Thank you everyone for all your support...big smooches all round. To you, and you, and you...as the Von Trapp children would say (except they'd say it in German, or was it Austrian...oh I don't know...you get my drift!)
all images by me except the ones that aren't....they're from flickr

  1. It sounds like you have had a very well-rounded and enjoyable weekend Kerry. Great to see a little rain can't get get you down:o)
I am looking for a nice tea cup and yours is a beauty.
Good looking kids btw. Has anyone ever told you your son is the spitting image of Dr Phil's son Jordon? I did a double take when I saw him.
Here's hoping your week is as enjoyable as your weekend was!

  4. Sounds like a great weekend - mine was a bit tedious. Oh well. Why would the vampie slayer use her basket when she looks so comfy on the couch? I'm loving the teacup - so pretty!

  7. As I sit here typing away on this freezing Perth morning, that cup of tea looks SO inviting - I think I need to go boil my kettle :) Sounds like the perfect kind of weekend - a bit of time to catch up on 'must-dos' like paperwork, but lots of time to relax, potter about the house and dream of future decorating projects. I love how your dining table looks out through those lovely windows onto your backyard. Congratulations on your 100th post - I love reading your blog and look forward to more of your wonderful posts in the future. Have a great start to your week Kerry xx

  8. Oh man...if I read one more post of some bloggy's fabulous weekend I think I'll cry..I painted ALL weekend..awful, hard, fiddly bloody windows and doors that require 4 coats of bloody paint! Actually, it wasn't too bad, just tiring..Your weekend sounds wonderful, I'm sure I'll enjoy the time one day when I can simply potter about. Heavenly..Rachaelxx

  9. Tea, magazines, and a quiet house - who could ask for anything else. I love your dripping garden photos. I haven't taken any photos in the rain. If we ever get some I'll have to give it a shot as yours are stunning. I'm glad you finallly got some R & R (and some time for writing your 100th blog post).

  21. Oh anything but miserable Kerry! My favourite magazine there I see, and some great dvd's - I just love 'It's complicated'. And when it's so wet you don't have to feel so guilty about hunkering down. Do like your boho purchase too!

  23. And a very lovely cup you had to drink out of, my dear! We watched It's Complicated Saturday night (Netflix). I don't like many movies, but I loved this one. I too love it when it's noiseless and I can truly hear my thoughts. And just so you know, it seems to be a myth that cats will sleep anywhere other than where they choose. As they say, a cat is a cat and that is that.
