curl up with cups of tea...using the giant cup that the first born bought me for mothers day...
do a bit of magazine browsing...
watch a DVD or two...
dream of what I want to do with the tranquil townhouse while watching the rain fall down outside...and yes, painting the woodwork white is one of those things...and new dining chairs
confirm that I need to go and get some wood for the fireplace...which is not really a fireplace but a stove thingy...that I really don't like the look of, but I know it's going to be great when I get around to lighting a fire in it...[this is my first winter living here and when I came to the open inspection the fire was going...and well, you know how it is!]
enjoy the fact that the 22 year old was in Sydney visiting his sister (and the house was mine, all mine for the weekend...no offence Ben!)...ssshhhh, can you hear the silence...
make a small purchase...and give in to my boho tendencies...not that that's hard!
take some photos of the garden in the rain...a different kind of beautiful...
[quite pleased with those photos; just as well...I got a bit wet taking them!]
visit a friend who wants me to help him plan his bathroom reno...so excited about doing something with this [below] because it's all kinds of wrong as it is!
tackle the pile of work-work that seems to be never ending at the moment...that's definitely not me BTW...
try and get the vampire slayer to stop sleeping on the furniture when she has a perfectly good cat basket to sleep in...fur-lined and everything. Actually, it's a dog basket, but I hardly think that's an excuse for her not to use it...it's not as if she's smart enough to know the difference! No, don't defend her...she's not!
And best of all, spend some lovely time with the MGM. So not too shabby a weekend at all bloggy peeps. Hope yours was equally good. And I do believe that this post is my 100th...how in the heck did that happen! Thank you everyone for all your support...big smooches all round. To you, and you, and you...as the Von Trapp children would say (except they'd say it in German, or was it Austrian...oh I don't know...you get my drift!)
all images by me except the ones that aren't....they're from flickr
It sounds like you have had a very well-rounded and enjoyable weekend Kerry. Great to see a little rain can't get get you down:o)
ReplyDeleteI am looking for a nice tea cup and yours is a beauty.
Good looking kids btw. Has anyone ever told you your son is the spitting image of Dr Phil's son Jordon? I did a double take when I saw him.
Here's hoping your week is as enjoyable as your weekend was!
Angex
Hot cups of tea and endless magazine reading....nirvana! Oh, and that bathroom really is screaming out for help. So happy 100 post day, I thoroughly enjoyed reading each and every one of them, and I for one can't wait for the next 100. K xx
ReplyDeleteSounds like a very restful, enjoyable weekend. Seems like this weather we're having isn't too bad after all! Love your tea cup and saucer!
ReplyDeleteThere's definitely a bit of boho in me too! :-)
Sounds like a great weekend - mine was a bit tedious. Oh well. Why would the vampie slayer use her basket when she looks so comfy on the couch? I'm loving the teacup - so pretty!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on 100 posts. I thouroughly enjoy reading them :)
not too shabby a weekend at all! i've got my fingers crossed for exactly that next weekend, except the two ferals will be home, and i'll scream if i have to bring anymore work home, but yeah pretty much just that! jxx
ReplyDeleteNot sure where my comment disappeared to! Try again. Sounds like you had a very productive and enjoyable weekend in spite of the rain. We are enjoying unbelievable sunny and hot temps(29-30) so everyone is hoping it is a sign of things to come. Peonies are blooming! yeah. have a great week. Mary
ReplyDeleteAs I sit here typing away on this freezing Perth morning, that cup of tea looks SO inviting - I think I need to go boil my kettle :) Sounds like the perfect kind of weekend - a bit of time to catch up on 'must-dos' like paperwork, but lots of time to relax, potter about the house and dream of future decorating projects. I love how your dining table looks out through those lovely windows onto your backyard. Congratulations on your 100th post - I love reading your blog and look forward to more of your wonderful posts in the future. Have a great start to your week Kerry xx
ReplyDeleteOh man...if I read one more post of some bloggy's fabulous weekend I think I'll cry..I painted ALL weekend..awful, hard, fiddly bloody windows and doors that require 4 coats of bloody paint! Actually, it wasn't too bad, just tiring..Your weekend sounds wonderful, I'm sure I'll enjoy the time one day when I can simply potter about. Heavenly..Rachaelxx
ReplyDeleteTea, magazines, and a quiet house - who could ask for anything else. I love your dripping garden photos. I haven't taken any photos in the rain. If we ever get some I'll have to give it a shot as yours are stunning. I'm glad you finallly got some R & R (and some time for writing your 100th blog post).
ReplyDeleteNot too shabby indeed... I love my kids but a weekend like that with all that PEACE sounds heaven. I too sit on my couch "relaxing" and planning what I need to change in the room! A x
ReplyDeleteHello and thanks so much for visiting La Lamp Shade!

That tea looks delicious and your view is amazing! Painting the woodwork white would be lovely =)
ReplyDeleteThankyou so much for following my blog Kerry!! Your blog is really lovely. It was very cold & wet here this morning too, so I'm making some boiled eggs & a cup of tea for brunch and probably going to do some reading. Hope you have a lovely day. ps. atonement & it's complicated are fantastic movies!!
ReplyDeletelove,lm.x
Oh lovely! And you got to gaze at that beautiful green dress in Atonement - possibly my favourite film frock ever. Sounds like the perfect weeked {and I'm coveting that cup - love tea from a china cup, but they're always so small...}
ReplyDeleteHappy 100th post! I only 'found' The Tranquil Townhouse about 20 posts ago but I have enjoy reading each and every one of them. P.S. Your weekend sounded very nice & very relaxing. Lee :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like the perfect weekend! Who cares if it's raining when you fill it with such deliciousness!
ReplyDeleteVery very good. I am proud of you :))! I worked the whole day Saturday and crashed on Sunday had lots of sleep and now happy to be full on again this week. xox
ReplyDeleteThat photo of the glass of wine and magazines is exactly what I want right now (should I be worried that it's only 9am?!)
ReplyDeleteKerry, there is something really cosy about a rainy weekend and you have captured it perfectly in your images.
ReplyDeleteXX
Kerry
ReplyDeletewas it a good weekend! I felt immediately cozy and relaxed too just by reading .. and I woudn't mind seeing more from your garden darling.. it looks lovely!
xxx Flaviana
Oh anything but miserable Kerry! My favourite magazine there I see, and some great dvd's - I just love 'It's complicated'. And when it's so wet you don't have to feel so guilty about hunkering down. Do like your boho purchase too!
ReplyDeleteSounds like such great weekend:)
ReplyDeleteI love when the house is empty and I can enjoy the place to myself!
Kisses and thank you for stopping by, sweetie!
And a very lovely cup you had to drink out of, my dear! We watched It's Complicated Saturday night (Netflix). I don't like many movies, but I loved this one. I too love it when it's noiseless and I can truly hear my thoughts. And just so you know, it seems to be a myth that cats will sleep anywhere other than where they choose. As they say, a cat is a cat and that is that.
ReplyDeleteBrenda
Tea, magazines, wine, movies, and are they macadamia nuts I spy ? yum! How was Its Complicated? I want to see this movie soon. I have huge amounts of painting I need to tackle at home, but something always gets in the way.
ReplyDeleteOh how I love Canberra. I love the cold.. sounds like you had an absolutely delicious weekend.. good for the soul. Throw in a snuggly cat and it looks like it was just heaven. A-M xx
ReplyDeleteKerry...I am all for bohemian tendencies and that tile is wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteBig cup of tea, rainy weekend, magazines, your adorable cat and lots of time to put your feet up and contemplate life sounds wonderful to me!
Wished I lived around the corner:)
Jeannex
Ooohhh, both of those movies are on my Netflix list! Great post!
ReplyDeleteHi Kerry,
ReplyDeleteWas so happy to see a lovely pic of Jess & Ben, my memories of them are always from 1990, and my how they've changed. Gorgeous grownups now!
Sally
Aaah yes that rain reached us up here too but one must be grateful that the predicted storm didn't.. Lovely weekend medley and fab pose by the Vampire slayer. It must be the yoga! :)

The house where Atonement was filmed, is owned by my friend. We're at book club there in September.

Sounds lovely, Kerry! Hope it was a good one :)

Τhat's right, no buying that sorry excuse for pizza dough at your local grocery store; we'rе
talκing the real deal herе. I dоn't like pizza sauces, so I opt to use two cans of diced tomatoes as the first layer-one can of plain and the other of Italian.
