When I got home all I wanted to do was head here...
[...oops, proof positive that I don't always iron the pillowcases!]
... snuggle up with this...
...a riveting story (at least up to page 45 where I fell asleep) about a single mum of three teenagers who bans computers, mobiles, television, electronic games etc for six months as an experiment in living without electronic media (she is obviously not a blogger...and yes you read right...they were teenagers!) She even turned off the electricity for the first week to go cold turkey...no fridge, no air conditioning, no hair straightener, no google...eek!!
The author says that her family's "self imposed exile from the Information Age changed our lives indelibly - and infinitely for the better". I can't wait to read how.
Tonight I'm planning on doing something simple (very simple...because I'm still a bit weary) with these bottles that I bought at trash and treasure on Sunday for $10...And as for that blasted delightfully fulfilling silver leafing...hopefully I will be in a position to reveal the project that has momentarily taken over from the chair in the next few days...maybe, possibly, fingers crossed I can finish it and it will look as I imagine it should look...just call me Pollyanna!!

Love the carrier and the bottles. What a steal you got! Sarah used similar bottles with 3 Gerbera daisies, some twigs and some raffia around the neck for her wedding centerpieces. Amazing how a cold glass of wine makes the rest of the day easier! Hope you got to enjoy your comfy bed.
ReplyDeleteGlad you made it back in one piece last night - how exhausting. Love the glass bottles!

Gosh, you're funny! DO you think there'll be readers outside of Aus wondering about your knackered status?? :)
ReplyDeleteDoes sound like you had a hectic day! I'm doing a day trip to Melb from Hobart in August and can't wait - I'm just going shopping!
Oh yes, still looking forward to the silver chair reveal :)
ooops...o/s readers who may not know what 'knackered' means...very, very tired!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a quiet day is in order!
ReplyDeleteThat book sounds like a good read. I like the theory of a technology free home but I think the practice would be a different story. Must check that book out.

Poor you, sounds like a very full on day! the book sounds interesting. I am the worst technology offender in our house. Am even scheming how to be able to blog on the road for our trip rather that wait for major towns. The bottles and holders were such a bargain. What a lucky find. Take it easy today and recover your equalibrium.
ReplyDeleteOh I hope your day today is more restful!! Love the bottles:) Which trash & treasure do you go to? I used to go to the one at Belconnen all the time growing up:) Loved it!! Hope you have a fabulous Tuesday ~ Tina xx
ReplyDeleteI have been anxiously waiting for the silver leafing! Can't wait to see it.
ReplyDeleteOh, what a great choice of book - although I'm not sure how giving up all things electronic would work with this whole blog addiction thing. Do you think I could talk the kids into it without actually doing it myself? Don't think so somehow! Glad you're back and hopefully rested after your big day, and no rush on the silver leafing - by tonight would be fine!! xx
ReplyDeleteOh the glamourous side of travel! I bet that wine went down well. I think I'd have had two. Can't wait to hear more about your book. Not that I sleep with my iphone but I am VERY attached to it. Just not so sure I could contemplate life without technology. What would happen to my blog addiction? Amanda xx
ReplyDeleteMmmmm Pollyanna, you said...I have a clue!!!! Now I very curios to see if I'm right or wrong!!!
ReplyDeleteHugs!

Hey Kerry. Love your bottles and hope Melbourne wasn't too hard on you! Who knows, we could have passed in the street!!! At least you got a glass of white in :-)

ooooh you catapult me back to a time not so long ago. travelling all the time, long hours, dragging myself from a to b, change will come when you decide..... and about the bottles very curious of course, I prefer mine filled with wine :)))! xx
ReplyDeleteHi Kerry, I do hope you have caught up on your sleep. When you have a moment could you pop over to mine I have something for you.
