to this small annoyance...a candle plate that I have had for years and quite like...which of course you can no longer buy the right size candles for (at the right sized price at least)...
What to do? Fill in the gap of course...and create a whole lot of different looks while you're at it...I tried beachy...
pastel...
tribal...
a touch of old worlde charm...(that was my grandma's brooch)
chinoiserie...
bold and modern...
organic...
love anything remotely boho...
elegant...
a bit of bling...(see that Burberry perfume...a little goes a long way believe me!)
and the life aquatic...
And then what happens...?
...you find a candle that fits almost perfectly...and it doesn't cost the earth. Sigh. Life's like that.
I'm linking this to Metamorphosis Monday at Between Naps on the Porch
...well it's kind of one I think even though it required no power tools or paint!
all images by me...they took forever to stage, but it was heaps of fun! Just one more procrastination project brought to you by a tranquil townhouse!
I'm impressed that you have that many different pieces of jewelry to change the look of the candle. Looks loverly on the stacked plates! Hope that you bought more than one when you finally found one that fit!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photography . . .and you have amazing jewelry! You've given me some great ideas for my own overflowing box of necklaces and cast off earrings.
ReplyDeleteVery creative! I loved all the different looks. Jewerly boxes are treasures in and of themselves.
ReplyDeleteSuch a great idea, isn't it frustrating how expensive a simple candle can be!! I am loving the 'Organic' look and the 'Elegant' have a lovely morning :) Hazel
ReplyDeleteHa! That candle would have to be the best dressed I have ever seen. Love the black candle though. x
ReplyDeleteI love that you shared all of your creative ideas! Thanks so much.
ReplyDeleteThat black candle looks spectacular against the silver-great choice.
Best wishes,
Natasha.
So much bling for one blogger! I knew someone as glamorous as yourself would have jewels for any occasion - but of course, it stands to reason, you never know when a royal wedding invitation may drop through your letterbox! Very clever! K xx
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean - I have a hurricane vase thingy that I can rarely find a decent candle for. Not that I ever burn them...
ReplyDeleteGee, this would have taken you such a long time! Have a great week Kerry :)
Very creative! I love that you have so many ways to use it and so many choices. Great idea, I like the elegant one the best.
ReplyDeleteLaughing and loving the life aquatic candle. AWESOME!!!
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Laura
haha. Life is like that. Kind of a Murphey's Law sort of thing. On the other hand, all of your options were good looks too. You are such a versatile thing. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my library. It is a continual work in progress. Well, actually the whole house is.
Hope your week is off to a good start.
Pam
I was thinking that your lovely displays would have taken a long time to put together! It takes me forever just to write a post let alone come up with all of those gorgeous displays! Thank you for providing loads of inspiration! xx
ReplyDeleteYou are so creative! I love the bold and modern and organic looks. At least you're all sorted next time your candle is too small :-)
ReplyDeleteI would never have thought to do that with jewelry. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThat jewelry box looks like it has a fascinating life story.
What a lot of brilliant different looks, Kerry. I think that they all look great but, the black(?) candle looks perfect. Against the silver, they are a match made in heaven. XXXX
ReplyDeleteOh my GOSH! I thought I was looking at pics you'd somehow found on the net then I realised you had created all of those little 'scenes'. Love the boho and elegant ones. Gorgeous candle holder too!

Wow that candle base has been subjected to serious styling! I love the creativity of all it's changes. But best of all I love the simplicity of the very lovely base with that perfect black candle. The question will be, Do you dare light it?
ReplyDeleteGenius~ I love what you've done with your candle holder. And isn't that what usually happens? I adore all of your pieces- I'm sure they look as lovely on you as they do with your candle and holder.
ReplyDeleteI like your work and your photos. And the unexpected end of it !

PS Loving the Tribal Necklace.
Oh dear! Now that you have found the right size candle you are going to have to find another outlet for that wonderful creative energy! They were all most attractive.
ReplyDeleteLife is like that. But you look like you had lots of fun staging the others to find just the right combination!
ReplyDeleteBrenda
Brilliant... loved all your renditions. Great way to get out your creative energy!!
ReplyDeleteWhen you entertain you can match your outfit to your candle centerpiece :)
Love you!!
Terri
Came over from La Dolfina. You had me at "love anything remotely boho..." also seeing the Buddha in your back yard didn't hurt ;)
ReplyDeletewhat a cool selection of bling you have there. i would mind poking round that jewlerry box of yours my dear! jx
ReplyDeleteYes well - I'd be praying to find the right candle or I'd be hung over the candle till my toes burnt from using the pearls hubby bought me for decoration. Mind you - I'd probably use them more often that way ;-)
ReplyDeleteFirst of all I would like to say wonderful blog! I had a
ReplyDeletequick question that I'd like to ask if you do not mind. I was curious to find out how you center yourself and clear your head prior to writing. I have had a difficult time clearing my mind in getting my ideas out. I truly do take pleasure in writing however it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are wasted just trying to figure out how to begin. Any suggestions or tips? Cheers!

Hi! I know this is somewhat off topic but I was wondering
ReplyDeletewhich blog platform are you using for this site? I'm getting sick and tired of Wordpress because I've had problems with hackers and I'm looking at options for another platform. I would be awesome if you could point me in the direction of a good platform.
